Trophy awards can come in a variety of materials. Glass trophies have become increasingly popular. Not only do they look elegant, but they are also very easy to keep clean. Here are some guidelines on how best to care for them so they stay shiny and new-looking for longer.

Regular Dusting

Dust can adhere to just about any surface and can make your awards look poorly kept. With a glass trophy award, this problem is just as common but easily fixed. You can use a microfiber or other soft cloth to get rid of the dust and your award should look good as new. The frequency of dusting will typically depend on how much dust accumulates on the trophy. Keeping your custom glass trophy in a case can help limit this exposure and reduce the frequency of required dusting.

General Clean

For general cleaning, use soapy water and a soft microfiber cloth. Wet the cloth in the water, squeeze out excess water, and wipe the surface of the glass.

Deep Cleaning

Sometimes you may have liquids that land on the trophy and dry up. After a while, this tends to leave tougher marks that cannot be as effectively removed with a simple dusting. The best option in such cases is to use a window cleaner. Choose the best brand you can afford. Spray it into a microfiber cloth and then rub out the stain. Avoid spraying the window cleaner directly onto the trophy. You do not want the cleaner coming in contact with the wooden base. Some cleaners are strong enough to damage the wood.
If you feel your glass trophy award has lost its luster, a window cleaner can also help to restore the shine, besides helping get rid of stubborn stains.

Scratches

There is not much that can be done about deep scratches without major restoration. Minor scratches can however be effectively removed using toothpaste. First, give the trophy a good cleaning using window cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Then dab a small quantity of non-gel toothpaste on the scratched area. Use a damp cloth to rub this area gently in circular motions. The toothpaste will slowly polish the surface and remove the scratches.

It may take several tries to get the appearance of the glass to where you want it to be. Just keeping rubbing the toothpaste against the scratched surface gently for about 30 seconds at a time as you recheck.
